Born Dec. 6, 1952 in Minsk, in 1970 he graduated from secondary school № 41, Minsk, and joined the biology faculty of Belarusian State University. In 1975 he was hired in Minsk stronghold VNIIGenentika in 1985 was transferred to the Problem Laboratory of Experimental Biology, Belarusian State University, and in 1989 moved to a teaching job at the Department of Microbiology, Belarusian State University. PhD thesis: "The behavior of heterologous R-plasmids in the cells of Erwinia" specialty "Genetics of Microorganisms," defended in 1987.
